As California starts to open back up from its coronavirus-induced shutdown, we’ve started getting back to work with engagement shoots, with social distancing of course — gone are the days when we could greet our couples with a hug! Brian & Katie’s engagement session was our first after being shut down for over two months, and we are so excited to share.

James wanted to surprise his girlfriend Anne Marie with a marriage proposal in a special spot: on a Stow Lake rowboat, near the old stone arch bridge. As they slowly rowed towards the spot while feeding the ducks around them, we got into position — Annie on the shore nearby, David in a different rowboat (with our daughter on board to make it not look suspicious!) to get a second angle from the side — and watched as they approached. Last spring, Evan proposed to Ashley at the park where they first met (pics here!), and this summer, the two joined together in marriage at their California Academy of Sciences wedding. The Academy was a really unique setting for their one-of-a-kind wedding day, and the science-themed venue (it’s an actual museum, after all!) was super fitting for the two of them. [ read more … ]

Brian had enlisted a few friends to help pull off the perfect surprise for his girlfriend Jenny: they were going to take a walk with their dog along Stow Lake one sunny weekend afternoon, and along the way, he’d stop to surprise her with a marriage proposal right in front of a waterfall right at the edge of the lake. For his marriage proposal, Austin chose the San Francisco Botanical Garden, a spot that he and Lauren often visit.
