Dennis & Christine met seven years ago, and their story quickly grew together. Once they knew they had each found the one, Dennis asked Christine’s parents for their blessing, then waited patiently until he had just the right opportunity. (Perhaps it’s more correct to say that Christine waited very patiently for Dennis to finally find that opportunity.) In the end, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect proposal than where he ended up popping the question three years later: on a hike, overlooking the Banff ice fields, at sunset. That’s top-of-bucket-list material for photographers like us!

Back home in California, for their engagement session, we started at the Legion of Honor, and then made the quick drive over to Sutro Baths to catch sunset on the beach. [ read more … ]

Sam and Bridget flew in to spend the long Labor Day weekend in San Francisco, a city where they had lived for a short time in the past. They took a long walk in the city, then made their way to Baker Beach on this beautiful sunny day. After a short stroll along the sands, Sam revealed the true purpose of their walk when he pulled out a beautiful, shiny engagement ring and asked her to marry him. [ read more … ]

Aditi & Timir’s engagement session was a two-part affair. For the first set of photos, they hopped on a rowboat and paddled around Stow Lake for some fun, relaxed photos around the park. It’s not something I do often, but I think we got some really cute photos! For the second set, they really wanted the perfect sunset. 5/20 is a special day for many Chinese couples (it sounds like “I love you” in Mandarin), and Yan made sure to lock down that date with us several months in advance to capture this special moment between him and his girlfriend Min. He put a lot of thought into choosing the perfect spot, especially since the weather wasn’t looking the best that weekend.

When the time came, he and two of his friends concocted a story to get Min out to the Half Moon Bay Ritz Carlton for the surprise proposal, and they choreographed it perfectly. He led her to an overlook above the beach and coastline, and at just the right moment, his friends started playing music from a speaker that had been concealed in an inconspicuous shopping bag.
