Kyle & Ellie’s Point Reyes Cliff Overlook Surprise Proposal

Kyle & Ellie’s trip to Point Reyes was already off to a pretty dreamy start: they’d flown in from Texas just two days earlier, celebrated Ellie’s birthday the night before, and were spending a few days soaking up the Pacific coast. After a morning tour of the Point Reyes Lighthouse, they made the short hike out to a dramatic cliff overlook above the ocean, at a spot where the shoreline seems to stretch forever.

The weather was classic Point Reyes moody in the best way: soft gray skies, a little coastal haze, and that sweeping view of the beach far below. There was even one lone elephant seal in the distance, ready to witness what was about to happen.

Kyle and Ellie wandered out to the edge together, wrapped up in jackets and a beanie, taking it all in. From behind, they looked so small against that enormous coastline with arms around each other, facing the wind and the wide open water.

And then, in the middle of all that quiet, Kyle turned to Ellie, dropped to one knee, and pulled out the ring.

Ellie’s reaction was instant and unforgettable: hands flying to her face, eyes wide, laughing and tearing up all at once. Time froze at the edge of the world as Kyle shared a few sweet words and Ellie nodded through happy disbelief.

After the “YES,” we captured them wrapped up in each other, smiling straight at the camera with the coastline behind them, and even a playful dip-and-kiss moment right at the edge of the overlook. It was romantic, windswept, and a perfectly once-in-a-lifetime memory framed by one of the most breathtaking views in Northern California.
