Brandon & Kara | San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Surprise Proposal

Brandon and Kara chose the most amazing day to visit San Francisco. After hitting all the usual spots during the day, they wrapped up in the evening with a short hike up to Battery Spencer, at the edge of the Marin Headlands with its beautiful view overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and the City of San Francisco. Their timing was perfect too, as the sun had just hit the horizon, giving the sky that gorgeous pink color.

Once there, of course the first item to check off is the selfie! Then, the two shared a moment together, enjoying the view of the bridge, before Brandon revealed the ring and popped the big question. It was so exciting for us to be there to capture this moment, and Kara’s reaction was priceless — congrats to you both!

Here’s their story in Brandon’s own words:

Kara and I have a short story in terms of how we met… We went to rival colleges within Michigan and continue to harass each other about who went to the better school. After I moved back from Chicago and Kara graduated college, we began crossing paths. We had run in similar circles throughout the years and always saw each other in passing whether at an event or venue. During those encounters, we frequently locked eyes (I had a crush on her from the first day I saw her) and had brief conversation. As time went on, we began chatting via text, phone calls and other means of communication.

Once we felt comfortable enough, we went on a couple dinner dates and the rest is history.

During our visit to San Francisco, we got up early Tuesday morning to see all that the Bay Area has to offer…Fisherman’s Wharf, Seals, Painted Ladies, Ghirardelli Square, Cable Car tour, Crissy Field, and many different views of the Golden Gate Bridge. At each destination throughout the day, I was able to get her to turn her back to me and pose for a photo with her hand out as if she was “holding” the building or site. I was constantly keeping track of time as I knew we had a time schedule in order to make the proposal happen perfectly at sunset. Realizing we had some extra time, we stopped in at the nearest watering hole in The Marina District and had a couple “pops” to calm the nerves. We then headed back to our condo rental and tidied up for the evening.

Once we arrived at Battery Spencer, we snapped a few selfies and I was able to get her to, yet again, turn around and pretend she was “holding up” the Golden Gate Bridge, which gave me time to snap the photo, prepare the ring and get down on a knee to ask her the most important question of our lives!

Of course, she said YES! We followed the engagement with a surprise dinner at Scoma’s Sausalito, where we had beautiful views of the city, over the Bay!
