B&T’s Marriage Proposal at the SF War Memorial Opera House

B&T’s surprise proposal at San Francisco’s War Memorial Opera House was so perfect — sneakily schemed, elegantly executed, and all captured on camera.

His story to her was simple: they were heading out for an evening performance of the SF Ballet’s Nutcracker. But instead of the usual bustle of a crowd going to watch a show, he had actually secretly reserved the space just for the two of them. We tucked ourselves out of sight and waited, letting them have that quiet walk-in moment together before he led her to the exact spot.

To make sure everything went smoothly, I had met up with him the week prior to scout the location and dial in lighting and positioning. The Opera House is a beautiful (and truly unique) venue. All those classic details, warm tones, and dramatic architecture make it feel so timeless in photos.

And then… the moment. A deep breath, a dropped knee, that split-second of surprise on her face, and then pure joy. Afterward, we soaked in the space with a few more portraits around the building, in the once-in-a-lifetime setting that somehow still felt intimate, because it was theirs. Congrats B&T!
