Andy & Rachel’s Tomales Point Surprise Proposal

Point Reyes has long been one of my favorite escapes from the Bay Area. Even the drive up there is wonderfully relaxing, with small roads that wind through rolling coastal hills before opening up to dramatic cliffs, endless ocean views, and one of the most spectacular stretches of California coastline. And at the tip, at Tomales Point, lay the perfect place for Andy to ask Rachel one of the biggest questions of their lives.

Planning a proposal at the end of a long, remote hike takes a little extra coordination. Andy and I had discussed the exact proposal spot ahead of time, so on the day of, I started hiking early to make sure I could get into position before they arrived. Along the way, I actually passed right behind them as they stopped for a lunch break. I snapped a few quick photos, continued on, and waited at the end.

The trek (all 9.6 miles of it!) was well worth it!

With blue skies overhead, waves crashing against the cliffs below, and the ocean stretching to the horizon, Andy dropped to one knee in one of the most breathtaking proposal locations imaginable. Rachel’s reaction was filled with surprise and joy as she realized what was happening and, of course, said yes.

Afterward, we spent some time exploring the area together, taking in the incredible scenery while capturing portraits of the newly engaged couple at what I’m sure will be a spot they’ll remember vividly for the rest of their lives.
Congratulations again, Andy and Rachel! Thank you for letting me be part of such an unforgettable day.
